Using Shure SM7b with Audient ID44. Without the Cloudlifter, I had to set the preamp knob to about 5 hours to get enough boost, and you can hear a hiss at that extreme boost. I bought a Cloudlifter hoping I could get the same sound and the hiss would go away. I was wrong. With the Cloudlifter I get the same loud sound, but now with the preamp at 2 o'clock instead of 5 o'clock. It also changes the color of the sound. It filters out the crisp high frequencies that I love about the SM7b. I also inadvertently got a sort of mid-range siren noise in my short time with the device. This will probably help my old M-Audio up-tempo track a lot. But in this price range it's not worth it. Although the cable that came with the kit was good.
