Review on SOLOCOTE Kids Rain Jacket: Hooded, Lined Rubber Raincoats πŸ§₯ for Girls and Boys - Waterproof, Windproof in Size 5-14Y by Andrew Walton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great jacket though.

My daughter loves this jacket. She's 4ft 11in, about 87lbs, so I bought a size 13-14Y. The arms were a bit long but I could still see her fingers. The length was a little long, but she prefers larger, tighter pieces. It also has a slightly bell-shaped hem when the jacket is zipped up. Very fashionable design with comfortable cotton lining. The lining is very thin which means it's meant to be worn in warmer weather. No one wants a hot waterproof jacket stuck to their skin in warm spring weather or summer rain! I didn't give it 5 stars due to 2 cons: #1) No way to secure the hood with ties. Although it seems that a few cords are sticking out of the hood area, it's just for show not function. Too bad. #2) As other readers have mentioned, it had a very strange fishy smell. While my daughter didn't care, I couldn't take it. I took a chance and put it in the washing machine on a "soak" cycle with about 1/2 cup of baking soda and cold water. After it ran out, I washed it in cold water, the usual cycle, with my regular detergent. It can be tumble dried on low (according to the label), which is what I did. I checked it regularly and took it out until it was completely dry. Hung it on a thick plastic hanger in the door to air it out. Left it there for a few days. TA Dah! zero smell! I decided to take a chance - I put it in the washing machine and let it soak with about 1/2 cup of baking soda and cold water. After it's over, I washed it with normal detergent in cold water on normal cycle. It can be tumble dried on the "low" setting (according to the label), which I did. I checked it regularly and took it out until it was completely dry. Hung it on a thick plastic hanger in the door to air it out. Left it there for a few days. TA Dah! zero smell!
