I'm mainly a still life photographer - macro photography, landscapes, artifacts etc. But lately I've decided to shoot children and their parents in dynamic environments like the beach or other places. fun places. I started using my Pentax 100mm FA f2.8 macro for this job, but the limited focal length and screw-drive autofocus didn't work for me when shooting fast-moving subjects. I also like to shoot wide open to blur the background. About 10-15% of my shots came out soft with 100mm and my K-7, so I knew I needed the best tool for the job. I did a little research and settled on the Pentax DA* 60-250mm F4. The first example I received from Revain didn't focus properly and took 5-10 seconds to lock focus if it managed to lock focus at all. He came back and a few days later, just before the scheduled photo shoot, I received a new copy of the lens. I spent about an hour photographing lens charts and was impressed with the resolution of the lens at all focal lengths, even wide open. So I took the lens to the next shoot where the baby and his parents were at the beach and the lens performed great. The focus was fast enough and always accurate. I took about 300 photos at F4 or F5.6 of a 3 year old running on the beach and only 5 were soft. Resolution and color were superb and although I shot the entire session by hand, the lens was a pleasure to use. I am impressed. Everything is very sharp and the quality of the photos more than makes up for the weight of the lens. Bokeh is creamy smooth and beautiful, no doubt helped by this lens' rounded aperture blades. The disadvantage of the lens is its weight. , and a somewhat long rotation of the zoom ring to the stand from end to end, but these moments seem rather insignificant when you load RAW files into Lightroom and see the quality of the images. The price can be high, but if you need a lens to always deliver the goods in tough situations, this is the lens for you. No regret. Buy one.
