I had one of these antennas on a previous boat and was not impressed with the quality. Unfortunately nobody makes high quality 36 inch FM sea antennas. All higher quality antennas are 48 inches or longer. My current boat is in a covered dock and I don't have enough vertical clearance for a 48" antenna. So I had to buy another one right away. Here are the problems with this antenna: 36 inches as described by the manufacturer. This can create space issues for boats in boathouses, covered docks, etc. 2- The socket where the coaxial cable comes out of the base does not fit well. It doesn't fit the hole snugly 3- The sleeve will weather with age and sunlight leaving a black streak on the base 4- The plastic base will weather over time The surface will become rough and chalky This antenna is good.
