Reception is normal, quality is so-so

I had one of these antennas on a previous boat and I was not impressed by their quality. Unfortunately nobody makes quality 36" antennas VHF -Navy antenna. All higher quality antennas are 48 inches or longer. My current boat is in a covered dock and I don't have enough vertical clearance for a 48" antenna. So I had to buy another one right away. Here are the issues with this antenna: 1. Overall length is about 40 inches, not 36 inches as advertised by the manufacturer. This can create space…

Pros
  • Nylon socket with standard 1"-14 thread
Cons
  • There are nuances

Wrong photo

Although the photo in the advert shows that the base is clearly connected to the antenna, it is not included. The purchase, which you can get here on Amazon, you also need to buy separately. I would give this five stars but the addition seems a bit deceiving as the photo is not accurate. The antenna works great and does a really good job picking up stations while moving. Yes, we have an iPod connected, but we like to listen to NPR and Co. with coffee in the morning.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Excellent antenna. Looks great and works.

I love this antenna. Looks great on my boat. My radio picks up stations that weren't previously set. I replaced a broken stainless steel on my 95ft Trophy 2002wa. I was able to use the original plastic mount. The only thing I don't like is the rubber grommet around the antenna cable. The one I got doesn't fit snugly in the hole that the cable goes through at all. It's like the hole itself was drilled too big for some reason. So it's shaking. Apart from that everything is alright. I can live…

Pros
  • Accessories and consumables
Cons
  • Big and chunky

Reception OK, quality medium

I had one of these antennas on a previous boat and was not impressed with the quality. Unfortunately nobody makes high quality 36 inch FM sea antennas. All higher quality antennas are 48 inches or longer. My current boat is in a covered dock and I don't have enough vertical clearance for a 48" antenna. So I had to buy another one right away. Here are the problems with this antenna: 36 inches as described by the manufacturer. This can create space issues for boats in boathouses, covered docks…
