The suction cups could have been removed. They do not stick to formica or wood. The engine is incredibly weak. The weight of my knives alone was enough to stop the engine. In no case do not press on the knife. Attention, there are several identical devices under different brands. I doubt any of them are better than this one. It's an inexpensive unit and works like one.
