No loss of sound quality for the adapter. The volume is controlled via the computer, but works without problems. It's just a good adapter. I'm using the device in a home studio with a green screen and it's connected to my laptop which doesn't have a mic-only adapter. I use it to remove background noise from my YouTube posts. 3D printing in pajamas. Being able to just add a mic to pick up ambient noise and then remove it with my Oneshot video creation software is a great addition. This is a great little device that came very well packaged and does a very simple job very well - John.
