Exactly what I need for VR.

If you have a laptop with a Thunderbolt 3 port but no DisplayPort and want to use an Oculus Rift S or other wired VR headsets, then all you need is this (and a USB 3.0 port for the Rift S) to make everything work for mobile VR games. Make sure your graphics card supports VR. This should always be the first thing you check.
