I bought this item to hold my 11 inch tablet. Came in a tiny box. The parts were easy to assemble, I had a few for the CD slot but for regular sized phones. The holder appears to be very smooth. Velvety grip. It has rubber grips on the top and bottom that hold your tablet or phone. Feels solid. When you open the bottom with 2 side buttons. It stays in the size you chose. The look is typical for other phone holders. You can then use the grip to adjust it to the side of your phone or tablet. I have used this mount for both my 11 inch tablet and a regular cell phone with the cover attached. Not sure why users can't use it on smaller phones. If you set the portrait style, it will be retained. And then you can turn it to the side if needed. The photos show what it would look like if your CD player were at the same level. I turned mine upside down, as did the other reviewer. I did this for 2 reasons. I am not tall. This somewhat blocks my field of vision. Another reason is to hide my tablet from people who will see if I walk in for a minute. I have a heavy tint in my car but the dashboard is still not visible when you get close. And I only walk a minute because I'm a delivery driver, otherwise my tablet gets put away or stays with me longer. Also, it sticks very well to tablets, you have to be careful to tighten it right behind the tablet. If you tend to move the holder too much, it will loosen and feel like it isn't holding the tablet securely. Any holder will do this, even for your phone. So if it seems to you that he does not hold it, fasten it more tightly. That's all. And yes, it has some rebound. I think this can be solved by rotating it slightly up instead of vertically. The more vertical, the more elastic it becomes. Very happy with this purchase.
