Review on 🧴 MOLYKOTE Performance Synthetic Grease 5, 3-Ounce Tube by Carl Morgan

I used it to lubricate bearings on a homemade 3D printer and for this purpose Molykote checks most required fields (NLGI 2, base oil viscosity 50-100 at 40°C, suitable for low speed bearings etc.). In hindsight, I should have gone with the SuperLube that other people use to lubricate their linear bearings, but I wanted the "best" for this build, and that doesn't contain any harsh additives like PTFE or whatever. But as another reviewer points out, the smell of this stuff really should be a consideration. I often flinch at the strong smell of things like isopropyl alcohol, 3D printing resin, acetone, or paint thinner. I didn't even mind using kerosene to degrease the new set of bearings I was installing. But these are small things. This is something completely different! I really regret my decision to use it on a printer that will be in my home office all day. The pungent odor combining stinky cheese, feet, and vomit might be temporarily tolerable in an airplane hangar, but if your application is in your living space or you touch it frequently, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. As an added bonus for the super premium price that comes with this product, the scent lingers on your hands after a thorough wash, making this a gift that will please you and those around you.
