Of course you can also play Liars Dice with just dice. but the glasses and carpet add spice to the game. My family and I love beautifully designed games (Century: Golem Edition for example) and this Liars Dice set gets top marks from us. Perfect size and high quality glasses. The dice are adapted to the play style and the mat is well designed (formerly pirate). Even a very strong box is drawn in the form of a wooden chest. It's nice to take it off the shelf and play with family. I know I got my money's worth because we play it a lot and I can't remember how much I paid for it. (Some games that I consider overpriced have poor design and/or gameplay.)
