Upgrading the good old caulking gun

I have a large trim and paint project that requires very little caulking - a few thousand yards. Bought this Newborn 212 and a metal Newborn 930 GTD. My job has to be a lot bigger to justify buying an electric or air cartridge gun. Both guns are a big improvement over non-drip caulking guns as they reduce waste and mess caused by too much grout. Both caulk guns are a pain when applying caulk for very long periods of time as it's difficult to get a smooth stop and restart on a nice little roller (used before painting, such as baseboards). This gun and a rubber finger or gloved finger make it easy to apply medium to large beads of caulk at close range, e.g. B. around sinks, a pleasure. I'm deducting a star because this gun doesn't work well after three tubes. It has a poor grip and requires cumbersome inflation of the grip. I switched to metal and made a dozen tubes with no problems and also made it easier to dispose of the used caulk tubes. Currently, the metal model costs less than two dollars more and lacks that gun's "cool green monster," but that's about it. way takes longer for me. The rod retraction for loading is also smoother and more direct with the metal model. This is a good cartridge gun.
