Karen Kay Buckley Perfect circles are amazing. I'm new to appliqué and Jan Kingwell introduced me to these mylar circles. I used the circles to cut a piece of round fabric the right size for my project and added a 1/4 inch seam allowance. I then sew a series of small stitches around this seam allowance, leaving the thread ends about 2 inches long. long. Then use the ends of the thread to pull on the thread to gather the edges of the fabric around the circular template. I then use my iron (on the silk setting) to iron the seam allowances around the template. Erase the template and I have the perfect circle to appliqué in my project. When I make small stitches on top of the gathering stitch I get a nice round circle.
