Perfect Circles with Exercise

Wonderful! I was so excited I decided to make an entire quilt using my perfect circles and perfect big circles. I was surprised at how quickly the appliqué came out with these circles - maybe it seems easier since I starch the dickens out of the circles and they really stay in place as I sew. Tip: Spend a little time smoothing out the fabric around the iron/caliper circles so you don't end up with little dots here and there along the edge.

Perfect little circles for your applique project.

Karen Kay Buckley Perfect circles are amazing. I'm new to appliqué and Jan Kingwell introduced me to these mylar circles. I used the circles to cut a piece of round fabric the right size for my project and added a 1/4 inch seam allowance. I then sew a series of small stitches around this seam allowance, leaving the thread ends about 2 inches long. long. They work great but don't use hotter than your average iron!

These circles are great for making circles of the same size without having to draw or cut out your own. Unfortunately, the sizes aren't printed on the circles, nor are they pre-cut for you to add to Karen's ring of smaller circles, but this is easily remedied. I simply used a sharpie pen and measured/written the dimensions on each circle (I also wrote down the maximum temperature of the iron to be used so I don't forget) and used a manual paper hole punch to punch holes.
