Review on 🚣 Hybrid Kayak and Gear Garage Storage Racks by Malone J-Dock by Joseph Stone

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Sturdy but not as pictured/described

I bought this kayak mount over other wall mounts for two reasons. 1) acceptance of straps for hanging a second kayak underneath and 2) maximum weight (200 pounds). Although the stands are well built, installation was easy and they are very durable. I'm deducting a few stars for the following reasons. 1) The poles don't protrude far enough from the wall for my entire kayak (Ocean Kayak - Prowler 13) to sit on the pole and lean against the wall when set up with the top of the kayak facing up. So I had to use cam buckle straps to protect the kayak from even light winds. I suspect that you can have a good rest in a kayak or other kayak that is not that high. And 2) the description and the picture are wrong. The box did not include the 30 inch straps as advertised. I'll try to contact Malone to send them to me. Additionally, you cannot attach the cam buckle straps as shown in the picture (which is the way a kayak is mounted) because when mounted to a wall, the stand fits snugly against the wall and the strap cannot go over the loop drawn out as shown in the picture.
