The nut is stronger than plastic. The screw has a hex head that must be caught by the hex socket of the plastic mounting screw. But the nut uses a nylon lock washer inside the nut, and the hold of the nut washer is stronger than the grip of the screw head's plastic notch. As a result, I had to saw off a partially tightened nut and find my own bolt instead; one I could put a hex wrench in like most other proper bike fasteners. 2 star rating because while I've come up with a workaround, a piece of plastic with two bolts and two nuts is pretty hard to misdesign. Works fine now that I have it for sure. And if you need a rack mount for your Cyglolite HotShot fixture, this is your only option. So, of course, buy it to satisfy this need. It works as intended once you install it. Make sure the light is fully attached.
