I need to weigh raw ingredients and there's nothing worse than a raw chicken just slipping off the scale and onto the counter. Everything fits with a bowl, even if the meat is marinated so that it doesn't spill. In addition, the bowl is very easy to clean afterwards. I don't like the plastic lids on many plastic scales because while they protect, they also break, otherwise bacteria can live in tiny nooks and crannies. These scales are made of metal and are very easy to disinfect and keep clean. Highly recommended, especially if you are weighing rotating foods (peas, etc.), chopped foods, or any type of meat.
