Beefy Wheels That Look Great

Although I thought these looked decent in the product photos, they look even better once you wrap some rubber around them and put them on a truck. I adopted my son’s BFG KR3s when I got him some new tires for his Deadbolt and they were a great match. I ended up putting this combo on my JLU and it looks pretty aggressive.Despite having a lot of screws, they assemble relatively quickly. You can spin all of the outer ring screws in before mounting the tire and just use the 6 inner screws to secure it afterward. This approach took about 10-15 minutes per wheel.Machining is pretty clean, and even though you can see the tool marks, they don't detract from the finish. Might even be intentional because the texture is pretty consistent. At 15.7mm these wheels are a touch wider than advertised. They have a 6.8mm inset yielding an offset of -1.05mm. This results in a track width about 6mm wider than stock SCX24 Method or Machete wheels, and just a few hairs wider than Rocksters.Out of the package, these wheels actually weigh their advertised 15g - the heaviest all aluminum 1.0 wheels I have purchased to date. Adding Injora’s optional brass locking ring brings the weight up to 23g! There is also enough clearance to add 7g disc hexes, getting you up to around 30g per wheel for a total of 120g of low, unsprung weight. All in all, I am very pleased and have no complaints. I will typically only buy a set of wheels once because I like each of my rigs to have their own unique look, but these are one of very few that I’d consider getting a second set of.

Pros
  • All is great besides main mounting hole is to small to get looks into
Cons
  • The wheels may not be as durable as expected, chipping or breaking easily during intense off-road use
