Review on 🎧 Blue SanDisk Clip Sport Go MP3 Player - 16GB by Jordan Weakland

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Died two months later.

Whichever Chinese company wrote the firmware for this device, they obviously offered the lowest price. The rather important random game feature is a total failure. I have over 2000 songs on the external card, but shuffle keeps playing 50 songs. You obviously have no idea how to write a pseudo-random number generator of even the slightest complexity. This stupidity has continued on every SanDisk clip model I've owned in the last 5 years, but I can live with it by rerunning the shuffle algorithm joke by running it on another handpicked song , as soon as I hear him repeat. If I'm lucky, I can play 100 songs before I hear repeats. I've been listening to this thing every day at work for months and there are songs I've never heard. It's like no matter what I do, some songs never get picked by the shuffle algorithm. Yes, I know how to update the device firmware. An update a year or two ago supposedly "improved the shuffling algorithm". believe me it's not. But that's not the worst. I bought this device in September 2016 and it died yesterday November 2016. Two months after purchase! I always leave it charged but when I took it to use over the weekend it wouldn't turn on! It won't reset if you press and hold the center button for two minutes and then press it again to turn it on. None of my computers respond when I plug them into a USB port. It does not acknowledge charging when plugged into a wall charger overnight. I've endured the SanDisk crap for 5 years on various models and every model I had to manually restart by holding the power button, so yeah I know how to do it. It doesn't work this time! Hardware is becoming increasingly unreliable. The previous sports clip I had prior to September 2016 lost connection to the least impact external card, resulting in it taking FIFTEEN MINUTES to restore the internal database of 2000 songs. What is this database algorithm? It's like N^2 complexity. Oh yeah, these firmware folks are challenging the shuffle algorithm, so am I really surprised? But that's not the sad part: it's the best MP3 player on the market outside of Apple. Has the entire industry abandoned them? Apparently. The only ones that make players are these pranksters. I will find out if there is a 60+ day warranty and ask SanDisk to send me a replacement.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Boring packaging
