Review on 🔌 Dorman 911-604 EGR Valve Control Solenoid for Toyota Models, Black by Joshua Albright

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fixed! in parts

ECL code P0401, Insufficient EGR flow, at 109,000 miles on a 2001 Camry 2.2 engine. FYI: I took the EGR off to clean it and it was PERFECTLY clean, connections and everything turned out to be a waste of time, then I replaced the EGR vacuum modulator with a cheap Chinese one and it jumped horribly and the code came like this previous I replaced the modulator on Dorman, the surge went away but the code reappeared. Then I got one of these (seriously - it's between the back of the block and the engine mount, and the single mounting bolt is poorly hidden. Disconnect the wiring connector from the right wheel arch area first) and installed it on the intake manifold after rewiring (be careful - the wiring is short and probably needs some play to work properly), then the code will no longer be displayed! I haven't tried reinstalling the original equipment modulator to see if that VSV is the problem, but I don't care - it's been working for months now. The port on the end opposite the small filter and the side port are open to each other when the valve is NOT energized, and when it is energized, the EGR signal vacuum is blocked and the EGR is vented through the filter. I think my OE solenoid must have been intermittent. My old valve worked fine when I tested it, but the new valve stopped coding. PIA, I have to say.
