DTC P0401 after replacement. . . passed.

I have had my 1999 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder for 2 years. My check engine light has been on since I bought it. I went to a shop and they said it was the ECU ($500), after 50 miles it came back. Then I went and bought an EGR modulator in the Autozone. ($50) changed and nothing. I then went to another shop where they said it was my EGR valve that was bad ($276) to have it changed and yet after 50 miles my check engine light came on again. Then about a month ago I did some research myself and foundโ€ฆ

Start here by repairing EGR Code

Start with this part. If you search the internet you will find that this part fails more often than the EGR itself. Before that I swapped all other components. The code was still included. The good news is that the P0401 trouble code and emissions test error will be resolved. The bad news is that this is the scariest part. Whilst all the other 3 parts of the EGR system are on top of the engine, this part is under the engine which is only accessible by jacking up the car (jack up please)โ€ฆ

Exhaust & Emission P0401 Code

Well, looks like my P0401 code has been fixed. I'm not sure until I've driven a few miles in a 1998 Rav 4. I first made a reed module next to the EGR valve hoping that would solve the problem. nope Then I started reading horror stories about that part. Well it wasn't scary. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and remove the right wheel. Grasp the steering handle. Disconnect and insert a new one. I did NOT remove the old one and attached the new one in a place where it appearsโ€ฆ

Fixed! in parts

ECL code P0401, Insufficient EGR flow, at 109,000 miles on a 2001 Camry 2.2 engine. FYI: I took the EGR off to clean it and it was PERFECTLY clean, connections and everything turned out to be a waste of time, then I replaced the EGR vacuum modulator with a cheap Chinese one and it jumped horribly and the code came like this previous I replaced the modulator on Dorman, the surge went away but the code reappeared. Then I got one of these (seriously - it's between the back of the block and theโ€ฆ
