Exhaust & Emission P0401 Code

Well, looks like my P0401 code has been fixed. I'm not sure until I've driven a few miles in a 1998 Rav 4. I first made a reed module next to the EGR valve hoping that would solve the problem. nope Then I started reading horror stories about that part. Well it wasn't scary. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and remove the right wheel. Grasp the steering handle. Disconnect and insert a new one. I did NOT remove the old one and attached the new one in a place where it appears secure and doesn't interfere with moving parts. Once I found this part, it took me about 30 minutes. I took my time and was prepared for the worst. Maybe that made it better. 97 degrees and muggy. I did it in my appropriate parking space. Don't worry - YOU CAN DO IT! I work on my car when I can and always read reviews and watch repairs on YouTube. I'm nowhere near a mechanic (I'm a registered nurse). I love saving money for repairs that I can do. And be proud of your success. I'll let you know if this doesn't fix my problem. Much luck. PS = The transfer case dipstick (I have an automatic) is pointing directly at you, so check or change the fluid now. Fill liquid into the dipstick hole. Mine uses gear oil. I wanted to write this while the details were still fresh in my mind.
