I found this book to be a fascinating history of Icelandic knitting. Much of the book is devoted to the historical Icelandic tradition of knitting shoe insoles. The photographs of shoe inserts in the first part of the book are particularly interesting. They are very beautiful too. So much beautiful knitting disappears under your feet where nobody sees! Knit inserts are an affair of the heart. There is also a good section on Icelandic knitting techniques such as tape binding (loop) and Swiss darning. But patterns are a different story. There are few that I would knit, mostly for kids. Some of the adult models are a little away from the wall. Think Bjork!
