These wicks are truly awful. I didn't return them when I had the opportunity, thinking I'd try making more than one candle and see if it was just a fluke. no They burn with very, very strong flames, which I find dangerous, and they also produce more dark smoke than you would want from a candle. Cutting them doesn't help and they are very difficult to cut with regular scissors because they are so "thick" and tough. Now I have to burn all the candles I light in the fireplace so I'm less worried about big flames and smoke. Don't buy this.
