Review on πŸ§₯ Columbia Ascender Softshell Hooded Jacket by Jamil Fog

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Suitable for gray weather in colder temperatures

I bought this jacket for cooler months (nowhere near frost) and I needed a hood for rain or wind. I'm 5'4" tall and 32" waist. I tried on the small size at a local store with just a t-shirt underneath and it fit really well. However, when wearing long sleeves or a double layer, I felt the size Small would be too tight around armholes and sleeves, so I ordered Medium from Revain instead. For me it's a relaxed fit at the chest and waist, not too baggy, but I'm more comfortable that way. Neither size is perfect for me, but medium was the best compromise. The soft shell feels comfortable but doesn't make any noise when moving. The jacket keeps the wind out quite well. The jacket is suitable for light to medium rain and short trips outdoors in heavy rain. I don't think it will perform adequately for long periods outdoors in the pouring rain. The only downside I see is that the jacket doesn't have a drawstring for the hood. It only has one adjustment flap at the top. Overall I am very happy with this jacket.
