I have two Harley Davidson motorcycles. One bagger and the other softtail. I needed a handy phone holder so my iPhone 8+ wouldn't get lost or damaged. The attachment of the case to the phone is just as good if not better than my previous Otter Box case. I also bought a magnet that attaches to the vent so I can use it in my car. It works really great! The system is great and my wife wants the same for her Samsung Galaxy phone. Phone cases and other accessories I give Rokform products 5 stars and nothing less. When I got the first Rokform mount to install on my Electra Glide Ultra Limited I really had a problem with the mount. Using the necessary Torx bit, I removed the two original mounting screws and bracket that attaches the Harley Davidson to the master cylinder and front brake. The Harley Davidson bolts originally installed protruded about 1/2" to 5/8" through half the mount when I checked, and there was plenty of thread to hold the assembly in place on the handlebars. See attached photo. I took the Rokform parts included in the kit and assembled them by hand using the longer screws from the Rokform kit. What I found were the screws supplied as a kit by Rokform that threaded halfway through the bracket with only a 3/16 inch screw protruding and about 4 threads. The screw used has a standard 1/4 x 20 thread but with a countersunk head and black anti-corrosion coating. See attached photos I sent to Rokform. The first photo shows how short the screws from the Rokform kit were. If they were used, the attached aluminum master cylinder and brake assembly would eventually be removed, resulting in a costly repair. The second picture shows the original length of the screw as it was made and how long the thread engagement is. I contacted Rokform and they responded very quickly. I explained what I found and advised that I needed two longer screws with the same threads, only longer and with the same black coating that wouldn't rust. The original person I spoke to referred me to a person at Rokform who was a technician. We spoke to him and I sent the same photos with a few extra ones. The problem is obvious! The bolts were too short. However, I spent a week speaking to this guy when he went to the local Harley dealership to try and look at new bikes like mine and to confirm my complaint. Why did I bother to send photos? After a week I got tired of waiting and dealing with this guy. I called my local fastener supplier and asked if they had this screw of the length I needed. As expected they did and I went there and bought two. About a day later the guy from Rokform contacted me again and said he couldn't test my problem on any of the new Harleys at the dealership he went to there in California. At this point I got angry and told him I solved the problem by taking my time and buying two bolts of the right length. I also expressed my dislike for him and this almost two week deal to get two longer studs. He advised me to provide longer bolts and they arrived a few days later. All in all, I really like the Rokform phone mount. So much so that I bought another one for my Harley FatBoy. I haven't installed it yet as I'm keeping this bike in Florida. However if I do this if there is such a problem with the length of the screw I probably have the screws long enough to securely fasten them. I don't understand why I had to prove it to this guy and he had to support my complaint. I figured Rokform would just give me two longer bolts with no problem. I really think for the price of this phone mount kit there should be different length fasteners in the kit. I bought a cup holder from Kuryakyn that also mounts to the perch and opposite handlebars. The kit included four mounting kits. Two were standard threads and two were metric threads. This cup holder kit was expensive as was this Rokform phone mount and Kuryakyn didn't come cheap and gave you everything you could possibly need to mount their product. As I said, I bought a second Rokform mount and will probably buy a third as I plan to buy one for my son to give him one of his Harleys. Rokform has finally gotten a grip on customer support. However, I don't understand why such a simple problem required so many phone calls and discussions. I believe Rokform believes the installer will not remove the half mount to install their perch mount like I did. They suggest you remove an original screw and then freely assemble the phone mount with the hardware they provide. I'm an old man and I've learned to trust only God. Glad I checked the length of the included bolts as if they could pull the threads out of the aluminum Harley master cylinder assembly. Then repair costs would come to me and Rockform definitely not. I could just go and get the screws and fix the problem and say nothing. However, I wanted Rokform to be aware and aware of this issue. This forum, designed to help each other by advising others about possible problems with the product, is excellent. This Rokform phone mount is undoubtedly a great product! Just make sure the screws you get to attach the Rokform perch mount design are long enough to attach it securely like OE screws. I hope you felt that reading this was helpful to you.
