I bought these to replace window candle bulbs I bought from an upgrade catalog a few years ago. They seem to work great with these candles and "look" like the same bulbs I had, except the original bulbs are brighter. The bulbs I am reviewing and recently purchased have a whiter light than the original bulbs and have two filaments that look brighter when facing out towards the street. As for the shimmering effect. The two LED bulbs change very quickly from one to the other. Compared to the original bulbs I have I would say they flicker. It might not be that noticeable from the street. I hope they work as well as the original bulbs. These are the best timer candles (not from dusk to dawn). For many years I used plug-in candles with extensions and then added separate timers. I installed these candles in early December and the batteries will last until the turn of the year. I return home to a house that is all enlightened. We got a lot of compliments from our neighbors because we have such bright lights and the house looks so nicely decorated. Perfect for skylights, dormer windows or bathroom windows.
