Barbecue smokers - be careful!

This material is not suitable for fireplaces. I have a 1/4" Offset Steel Smoker. The firebox allowed smoke/heat through the top cover and I wanted to close it with this material. Based on most reviews it looks like it will work. Not right! - Adhesion is very good I used the wax paper method and it worked great After curing, as with all silicones, the excess or "streaks" were easily removed with a razor blade - Fairly easy cleanup - This material sealed mine Firebox perfect. I mean tight, tight, tight. It was of little use, however. Bad: - Firstly, this seller sent me a tube without a nozzle (as in the photo). That made the application a nightmare. Maybe I was just unlucky the seller I had - It stinks. It almost smells like vinegar. That made me very angry right away. I don't want anything smelly getting into my smoker. it healed, the smell went and i I couldn't detect any smells while smoking, but who knows? than fully healed for more than 48 hours but he will not survive. It all started out great (like I said, the box was sealed tight) but after about 30 minutes the stuff went soft and turned into a huge mess. I've smoked at about 300 feet, so I know this stuff will never stand up to seasoning or grilling. It may last in your smokebox, but I regret putting this stuff in my firebox. I'm in a mess right now. Beware!
