These are great for informal occasions, i.e., picnics, neighborhood outdoor cookouts, and gatherings where breakable plates are not appropriate. The compartments great for those who don't want the peas to touch the carrots, the apple sauce to touch the burger bun. I could go on. They seem firm and won't collapse when carrying with an average load of food (the plastic is about 50mm thick). I uploaded a picture of a 32 Oz soda can on the plate just for reference to show that it bends very little.These are listed as microwave safe, dishwasher safe but also disposable. I could not find the plastic recycle symbol listed in the information at the time of this review, but it is lightly embossed on the plate. The recycle symbol is 5 which is polypropylene (PP) which is known to be free of BPA (as advertised). Depending on your local jurisdiction you may be able to recycle. I noticed when I microwaved an item the plate did tend to warp just a little.I will need to use them for a while and perhaps update this review as to what the lifespan experience was. Since these have compartments, there are other possible uses for temporarily holding things such as car parts, electronics, crafts, etc.
