Review on ASC Audio Installing Volkswagen Vehicles Car & Vehicle Electronics by Christian Byrd

Upper or lower bracket

This kit contains everything you need to install a single din radio in a double pocket for your VW mk4. To use it, first install the black plastic bag from the kit either above or below the hole. I chose to mount it on top so the radio would always be open with the cup holder. Use the factory radio's rubber grip to attach the back of the case and support the back of the case. If you look through the hole you will see holes on the back to insert this rubber grip. Once the pouch is in place, insert the metal case of the radio directly into the hole in the car and slide the radio in. Attaches securely. The wiring harness works fine. If you are unaware that VW constantly powers both wires of the radio wiring harness (red and yellow) and turns it on and off with different wiring that your radio doesn't use if you want the radio to turn off when you use it When you remove the key, you need to find the wire that separates when the key is removed to power the red wire in the radio's wiring harness. On my car it was found on an unused wire in the fuse box, number 9 I believe, so the radio turns off when you remove the key. I hope this helps someone out there. If you run your own power cable to the radio, be sure to install a fuse so your car doesn't catch fire in the event of a problem.
