Have driven it over 600 miles including a few hours in heavy rain. Contents stayed dry and cruised at 70 mph with little or no wind noise. I connected two black straps together to make it long enough to go through the car. Because there are 4 black straps, you can make two sets to attach to the trunk. This will prevent the carrier from shifting from side to side. We then used two additional orange straps for added security. Use the mat that comes with the trunk. We recommend using rubber bumpers where the straps make contact with the outside of the vehicle to prevent abrasion. We used a kitchen shelf liner and only cut out small pieces to protect the machine. Be sure to place the unbuttoned side toward the front of the car. When it rained, water wouldn't seep into the car through the seat belts until we stopped. Suggest wrapping bath towels on the seat or towels around the seat belts in the car when stopped in the rain. It is best to run the straps through the tailgate as shown in the photos. We chose a sunny day for our trip. The trunk did not move while driving, the contents remained dry. No damage to the carrier. In general very satisfied.
