I have bought 3 different humidifiers this season and many in the past few years. This is the best design I've seen so far. Before that, I went with ultrasonic humidifiers because at least I didn't have to pay for the constant filter changes. But the cleanup/maintenance and volume (the amount of disk space a single machine can handle) bothered me. I've only had the Venta LW25 for a week, but it was highly recommended to me by a close friend and it's the first camera that's clearly designed for long-term use. I thoroughly clean my ultrasonic devices once a week, otherwise mineral residue (white scale) and mold/bacteria build up. However, there's always a spot I can reach with my brushes and pipe cleaners, so I'm always worried about mold/bacteria getting airborne. Venta uses a cleaning additive. It features a water softener to combat mineral deposits and a disinfectant to combat bacteria/mold. As stated in the instructions, it only needs to be replaced/topped up every 10-14 days as it doesn't evaporate as easily (unlike water). sensor at the top of the device. Once I started using this, I quickly realized why you wouldn't see a noticeable change in humidity at the top of the unit - it's sucking air in from the top and blowing air out the sides. See attached photos. I left the sensor in place for 5 minutes before taking the photo to give the sensor time to adjust. As you can see, the top has a relative humidity of 29% and the side has 46%. Venta increases humidity by 17 percentage points. I also need to fill it up once a day (at max speed) to keep it moving about a gallon of water a day. It's better than any ultrasound machine I've ever used.
