Installed BUT FAILED - Accessories and Parts

I got 4 of these pickups for a 2014 Highlander. The tire shop had a scanner to register new sensors, but there were 2 options: SmartKey or No Smartkey. My car is basic and doesn't have a proximity key, which I think is a SmartKey, but with No SmartKey the sensors don't register. They are registered with SmartKey. BUT, now my ALARM CLOCK is triggered randomly, which only started today after these sensors. So a programming error. The alarm also works at 315 Hz. I think the tire sensors should be at 314 Hz. The store charged me $70 to install and program 4 new sensors. That they'll probably charge me again for a replacement, but I'll still be fine IF we can get them to work. If the seller can fix it I will update it with 5 stars. DO NOT BUY for now! Interesting discovery! Old sensors have a plastic cover on the back that can be easily removed and that houses the battery. The battery is lightly soldered to the pins that go to the circuit board. If you carefully lift the board out of the case you will notice that there is 1 soldered tab that needs to be re-soldered. So if you know how to use a soldering iron, you can easily replace the batteries it contains for a very low price and still use the original batteries. The only thing is you have to reseal it and this is easy to do with high temp hot glue or epoxy. BUT, if they're running at around $11, it might be worth just replacing them with these parts compared to $70-120 for each OEM part. Update a week later. The alarm clock keeps ringing randomly. It didn't happen for a few days and then it went offline. This device is unlikely to provide a clear, true transmission at 315MHz and will interfere at 314MHz. This is a DESIGN PROBLEM.

Pros
  • Replacement Pickups
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
