amazing system, good price, easy installation

Gone are the days of having to connect multiple speaker cables to the back of a stereo receiver and enjoy stereo sound from music and TV shows/movies. Receivers are now the brains of your entire home theater system and this Onkyo is a great addition to me. An HDMI cable from each device - Apple TV, satellite DVR, DVD, etc. - plugs into the back of the receiver, and a "main" HDMI cable runs from the receiver to the TV, and your new system is just geek joined squad. It's Onkyo that made all my devices smart - turn on any of them and the TV and receiver turn on, ready to fill your room with wall-to-wall sound. Turn off your device and everything else will turn off too. Setup was easy - although I would have preferred a less complicated mounting system for all that speaker wire - and within minutes I was enjoying 5.1 Dolby sound (although the unit supports 7.1). Turning on the Zone 2 speakers in my backyard required a call to Onkyo's customer service line (it turned out that only the first three inputs - DVD, game, and cable/satellite - allow for a separate Zone 2 input , so my Apple TV is now input via game). not stream box). The sound quality is amazing, the picture quality is great too as this device upscales non-4K content to my 4K monitor while true 4K content from my streaming services is great. My previous "dumb" receiver was an Onkyo and lasted over 15 years. I hope this block 595 will keep me entertained for just as long.

Pros
  • DTS REPLAY. Dolby Atmos and DTS formats offer an expanded sound display, so effects move from speaker to speaker in the room, encompassing movies and games. You can also enjoy a 3D speaker layout with classic names.
Cons
  • Some Problems
