Review on Cable Matters DisplayPort USB C Supporting by Yadira Gray

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Updated 9/22/21. Still not a good solution for a new Macbook Air with a Levovo E24-10 monitor

Not sure if the cable quality is poor or if the length of the cable affects the signal quality. The monitor does not always recognize the signal from the MacBook through this cable. I tried many settings and many different on/off combinations/sequences but nothing was reliable. It basically boiled down to turning the monitor on and off and randomly detecting a signal. I know the monitor worked fine even with an old MacBook Air, but at the time it was using the monitor's VGA input. Now connect the USB-C output of the laptop to the DP port of the monitor. In conclusion, this cable is not a reliable solution for Lenovo E24-10 monitor. Update September 22, 2021 - Cable Matters contacted me and said I most likely have a bad cable. They sent me an exact replacement so THANK YOU to them for that. I asked for the 3 inch version thinking the length might have caused the signal loss. They said it wouldn't be a problem and sent me another 6ft cable, an exact replacement. Unfortunately, this new cable behaves exactly like the original cable. This new cable will sync after a few power cycles. Obviously a compatibility issue between Lenovo monitor and Macbook Air, so I suspect any USB-C to DP cable will likely give the same results. Bottom Line: Just don't buy this cable if you're trying to use a Lenovo external monitor with your Macbook Air.
