I wanted to upgrade my current lighting for my 5 gallon rimless (Finnex Stingray x 2 clamp). The tank is 16 inches long and the Finnex only extends about 12 inches across the tank leaving fairly large shadowed areas. The Hygger brand is exactly the same light as Amzbd. Even the box is the same. They measure nearly 10 3/8 inches, making them even smaller than the Stingray. This type of lighting uses metal clips located at the end of the tank. the top of the tank so that the LEDs create a pattern of colored dots around the perimeter, making the tank look like a circus attraction. Otherwise the rendering isn't bad, if you could hang it higher it would probably be ok. Timers on these devices are useless in my opinion. I really don't like the mandatory rise time. I use them for plants and any excess light that the plants aren't using will feed the algae. Also, why can't I select the photoperiod I want? Using a separate timer doesn't work either, as it starts with the default program. He will probably grow plants, but aesthetics are very important to me and they just don't look good. I'd rather use the Finnex Stingray for around the same price or spend the extra $20 on an Astra or Finnex Fugeray.
