Review on Draper 1050 150Mm Fence Auger by Eric Broad

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Robust, durable tool.

First The Bad. It was ordered around the 27th IIRC in April, late in the month. Deadline until May 4th. May 4th and no joy. Tracking showed it went through customs and stayed there for two days, then went to Cincinnati, was scanned on the 4th and. Nada. It finally showed up on the 15th in Cincinnati as "Scanned Again" and then "Nada." Was delivered on the 17th. Now I don't blame the seller but that's another sign things are falling apart. Brace yourself for a "6 to 8 week” dhow, or worse, Old Sail Days when at this pace it could take months or years. So let's get to the tools. Strong. Textured paint - reminds me of baked epoxy that may have been used on old stoves. It's tough, but it will wear off with time. never mind I took it for a test drive. My soil is compacted clay/sand, almost like cement. There is fighting. However, the same goes for every other tool I've used, from a pickaxe to a standard hand hole digger - it just takes brawn and some mule - I don't have much mule for height, but I do have Malice. I suspect that in another house it will speed up digging the hole by 50% since it is compact sand. I suspect we are facing difficult times and hand tools will be king. Oh, and it comes in two parts: the main body of the tool with a screw and a handle that fits into the top in a T-shape. You can pull that out a little to add leverage for more power, or - pull out and stick in a little longer for more leverage. Has a set screw under the smaller tee to hold the cable in place as well.
