Review on TCP Global 9-Piece HVLP Spray Gun Set - Includes 2 Full Size Spray Guns, 1 Detail Spray Gun, Inline Filter, and Air Regulator by Jared Bradford

As with most things, I researched HVLP systems thoroughly before purchasing them. My original project was to turn old java painted maple cabinets into a beautiful white. I chose this TCP system based on value and feedback. I know some people don't give this weapon high marks, but I doubt they've had enough practice and learned how to use it. I've never used an HVLP system before, so I watched videos and practiced with water on cardboard. Since I wanted to paint my cabinets with high-viscosity latex paint, I also bought a 2.0mm tip. I also recently bought a 2.4mm for future use with latex paints. I used a shellac based Zinsser primer to ensure I didn't bleed through. This is a more fluid paint so I used a 1.4mm nozzle and it flowed well. I then applied Benjamin Moore Advance (Simply White) as a base coat. It was harder to get the volume right, even with the 2.0mm nozzle. But with the right settings, it turned out wonderful. I had to dilute the paint 10% with water, so I bought a 2.4mm nozzle. I also made and painted the mantelpiece and it is beautiful too. Advance Paint will initially look like an orange peel if you get good volumetric coverage on the surface but after the advertised 16 hours between coats it levels itself out well on its own. My wife really likes the cabinets and if she's happy then I am i happy It was a fun project and I would highly recommend this HVLP for the money. Search for more things to draw now. TCP customer support is great too. I had a few questions and they were very accommodating. Can't beat it And FYI I used a 15 year old 20 gallon, 5.5 hp, 8.6 cfm Craftsman supercharger at 40 psi. zero problems. As many have said you can use a smaller compressor but you will need to be patient when spraying a lot to keep the pressure to a minimum. Good luck with your projects!
