I've used various types of home-made scanners over the past few years, but have limited myself to diagnosing a problem with a specific component. On 2000 and later models you really need a live data scanning tool to activate and verify the operation of the many sensors, solenoids and electronic components used in cars and trucks. This tool has saved me hundreds of dollars in work time by diagnosing individual components within a specific DTC. Time is money, and this tool is the next step in reading live stream data before you hit the $1,000 price range. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to service their cars and work on cars to earn extra income for friends, family and neighbors.
