I recommend cleaning the stairs thoroughly before installation. We used to have some old anti-slip stickers there, but the people who lived here before us painted them over and then it was useless. After driving one of them I decided to order these. I'm glad I chose them because not only are they very easy to install, but they really don't slip. I had to remove the old ones and then sand down the paint and thoroughly clean each step. After thorough cleaning and drying, I applied them to each step. Not only were they very easy to install, but they didn't come loose once they were attached. I waited at least 24 hours before testing them as I wanted to make sure they were really there. After 24 hours, I stepped onto the first step, turned, and moved along it. Not only did they stick to the step, they didn't move at all, just like me. The great thing is that you can vacuum them up and not worry about your vacuum cleaning them up. Really easy to install and clean. Even after about a month of wearing, they still get stuck on every corner. I haven't seen any of them peel off yet.
