The compact device is good for quick measurements in your toolbox or in the car, but is not a suitable replacement for a full-size meter if you do a lot of electrical work. One thing that isn't listed in the instructions is that when this device arrives it has a piece of plastic between one of its batteries and its contact that needs to be removed for the meter to work. This is annoying as it isn't listed in the owner's manual and there is no easy access to the battery without completely removing the meter case. Although it's actually very simple, I almost returned my unit as faulty because the case doesn't look like it should be opened and the instructions don't mention any special steps to take before first use.
