Before buying I read most of the reviews on this product. I was a bit embarrassed by the amount of negative feedback from people claiming the product worked out of the box. I decided to take a chance and buy a good one, so I ordered it. The item was delivered promptly in a well-packaged sealed box. I first checked the existing stereo wiring on my recently purchased used boat to make sure I had at least power and a good ground wire. I followed the instructions and connected the supplied loom using waterproof crimp connectors with shrink wrap on the ends. I checked the power again on the pin receptors plugged into the back of the stereo. Then I pressed the power button and the stereo turned on. I carried out an extensive function test with the supplied remote control and the device worked perfectly. I tested to ensure all four existing speakers were working before securing the unit in a new home. On a scale of 1 to 10 for sound quality, I give this unit a solid 7.5. Solid 10 for the money! Very important! I only installed it a few weeks ago so I can't rate the durability/reliability of this unit. If I get 2 years of it, it's worth what I paid.
