I opened the envelope and there was a remote control taped in a plastic bag. My first thought was, well, that sucks and $8 wasted. no box, no papers, no warranty or customer service information. Nothing. Just a remote control in a plastic bag. Insert two new AAA batteries, point to the TV and press the power button. TV turned on! Tried different keys. They all worked! So 5 stars for the working remote control, 1 star for the "thickness" (which idiot came up with this category? Thickness? Really?) and 3 stars for the quality. Value is best determined over time. If it still works after a year, it's worth it. If he surrenders next week, it won't be worth it. 4 stars overall because it works with an old junk TV, but I have no idea how long it will work with an old junk TV. and your factory remote has stopped working or lost, do it. Worst case scenario, you lost $8. Best of all, you now have a remote control that works with a TV that was obsolete 20 years ago and should have been replaced decades ago.
