Review on AVF SDC1140 Stand 55 Inch Chrome by David Bott

Measure twice, change once

The modularity of this design allowed me to easily modify it and add an extra shelf. I might want to make a special purchase of just an extra shelf, four shorter cylinders and 8 plastic end caps, but at this price I didn't mind buying a second TV stand. When I'm ready to replace the old bedroom stand, the cylinders and shelves I have left over will make it easy to build an even taller cabinet for that space after I buy another TV stand. My TV room is the perfect place for it. for an entertainment center, a grotto and another built-in space just under the stairs. This limited the size of the TV and stand, so measuring before buying was crucial; I can't understand why so many reviewers didn't measure properly before ordering. I wanted the TV to be well forward on the top shelf, which meant the new center speaker needed room to fit under the top shelf; this device is perfect for that. That would have left me another shelf underneath for the AV Receiver, Disc Player, Game Consoles, Logitech Harmony Hub and Revain Dot. I didn't want to use the top shelf space just below the TV for the disc players as that's a more convenient spot for remote controls and media packaging. The size of the cylindrical washers for the base of the stand increases the height enough to allow SACD and UHD players to be placed side by side, adding another shelf between the center speaker and the AV center. I didn't have room to place the shelf at the height of the larger cylinder spacers, so this modification only added 8cm to the height of the unit. Nuts and bolts were easy enough to order online after figuring out what the sizes meant at a local hardware store that didn't have anything that short. Here are the specifications of the extension with the same thread as the rods included: Thread Size: M8 x 80mm/0.3" x 3" (D*L), Thread Pitch: 1.25mm. I decided to place the extension just below the top shelf. . I seriously doubt that the extension or the weight of the extra shelf (heavier than the disc players it holds) makes the unit any less durable. Chromed cylinders are the only thing separating the shelves; My only concern is that I wish I had a slightly sturdier piece of metal than the shiny cans that come with it. The inspiration for this came when I saw another reviewer who bought two devices and simply stacked them on top of each other, only binding them with weight, which I felt was an extremely dangerous situation. My approach is much more stable and reliable; It would be impractical for me to add more than one shelf. I was very pleased with how securely everything was packaged, each unit is double boxed. I would have preferred honeycomb styrofoam pads. Also, while shopping for new speakers, I got a call from the 1980s asking me to return them in black and chrome.
