Review on DEWALT DWAFV02916 FLEXVOLT Carbide Blade by Jermaine Shuster

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Seems to be an upgrade from Bi-Metal Hole Saws

So I tried them for the first time. I have two complaints. One of the three teeth tends to vibrate a bit, especially when using the slower high torque settings often needed when cutting such a large hole. I would like to put 4-5 teeth on the bit, especially big ones. Second, the metal frame is a bit light. If you hit a nail or even a decent knot, the racquet will deform! A few gentle taps will bring it all back, but a little more meat or a slightly stiffer alloy helps a lot - although that can be a design choice. Deforming the metal frame before pulling out a tooth or breaking the transmission of a drill? Don't get me wrong, I love beats. You've already sawed through a lot of wood. They are fast and will survive if hit by a nail. Although I've had to redo them a couple of times with a couple of vices, I'm happy with them. If they show signs of heavy wear anytime soon I'll update my post. If I hadn't had a very high speed setting with a torque limiter I don't think I would have used it to get through the shower/tub wall.

Pros
  • Hole Saws
Cons
  • Non-Automatic
