I ordered this item to replace another model we previously purchased, the 4VWin traffic light. The second was garbage and a waste of money. It fired 100 times a day for no apparent reason, despite changing locations, installing new batteries and building a solar enclosure around it. Unfortunately we didn't have time to return it so it just went in the bin. I risked it because I knew it wasn't the most expensive, but it wasn't the cheapest either. The other was actually about half the price but ended up being almost as expensive as this one after purchasing lithium batteries for the sensor and receiver. No batteries are needed as the sensor runs on solar energy and the receiver plugs into an outlet. I attached it to a tree in a well-lit area. Installation is very easy thanks to the adjustable bracket. You can also adjust the sensitivity range, which was very helpful since it's in a narrow spot on our street. The receiver has an indicator light as well as a volume control and beeper to choose from, which is nice. I installed it the same day I received it so we can know right away if it's good. It's been about 3 weeks and so far so good! It still turns itself off when a squirrel walks by, but otherwise we've had almost no false alarms, and the solar panel keeps the sensor charged. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it didn't work a couple of times when cars drove out of my house. This one cost a little more money so hopefully this review will help someone else avoid the time and money like I did.
