Review on Meshforce M3 WiFi Point Dots by Nicholas Harrington

Revainrating 5 out of 5

More coverage than needed and easy setup

Introduction. My setup for this black Meshforce M3 Suite Whole Home System review is built on an area of 2000 square feet. Feet where 7 people have multiple devices. except my 14 month old daughter stole my iPad. There are 4 smart TVs, 4 TV streaming devices (aptv, firestick), 6 phones, 5 computers, 5 tablets, 2 slot machines and lots of smart devices with multiple security cameras, AC controllers, multiple smart hubs and other tech stuff. There are probably around 30-40 devices that need to connect to the router, and if the brother and family come over the weekend with their few devices, there may be 50. Yes, the family is quite tech savvy. Maximum productivity is achieved daily when kids are studying remotely and adults are working from home while streaming movies or music in the background, as it feels dated and only focused on computer work. Kids on a laptop are streaming live with their teacher on Google, causing too much traffic throughout the day. The problem I used to have was the dead zones in some parts of the house, in the back and front yards that we visit often. First Impression - I received the package early in the morning and was dying to open it. Surprised to see how small the box was and was expecting a lot more which is good. The first thing that strikes me is the approval/instruction manual and 3 beautifully packaged compact items. 1 router and 2 satellites (or points). Behind it is a small power supply and an Ethernet cable. I have to say that the power adapter is smaller, which is nice. I'm having trouble with my current router's power supply (Nighthawk r7000/ac1900) because it's too big and difficult to maneuver around my surge protector, leaving a few unused outlets that I could use for neat wiring. it is smooth in black. The main router is almost cubic, much shorter than my iPhone 12 pro and about the same depth, and the dots (satellites) are probably the same size as plug-in air fresheners, and I'm already seeing that I can place them anywhere without one in one cramped 2,000-square-foot house taking up too much space. The aesthetic, compact design and sleek black exterior make it a welcome addition to any interior in any home. Initial hardware setup - I have a basic knowledge of home networking from years of experience and was a requirement for technical school in the early 2000s. I'm by no means a pro at it. Placement Installation is very easy for me as I hooked everything up to a network switch so all I have to do is swap out the router, swap out the power supply and connect 2 ethernet cables to the ports. Installation configuration - it's easy just by looking at ten simple instructions. Download the My Mesh app and follow the in-app instructions. Connect to the default WiFi provided by the SSID/Password credentials under the router and it will automatically detect an internet connection. After that, change your SSID and password to your liking. Then you just need to add outlets within 32 feet of the router where you need coverage. Just plug it in and give it about a minute to connect to the router. If not, you can add it manually in the app. According to the diagram, 1 point corresponds to 3000 square meters. foot and 2 points - 4000 sq.m. meter coverage so it's a bit overkill for my needs. Router Configurations. Configurations are limited, but there are still plenty of them. After seeing how easy it is to set up a router through the app, I was pretty sure there is almost no configuration as many companies skip some of the advanced configurations as most consumers wouldn't touch them. Me. I like playing around with lots of configuration settings. Guest network and parental controls are a nice feature, and you can set how long you want it to last (4.8 or unlimited) and set a password. My previous router was a hassle to just turn it on and off and didn't require me to enter a password, which was useless to me. In terms of parental controls, you can group devices for one person and set multiple time periods to turn their internet on (bedtime, schooltime, dinner, etc.) which is great, whereas previously I had to manually toggle each device on and off and tend to do so easily to forget it. The QOS function is very limited and can only enter dl/ul settings, while I suspect that the router recognizes and prioritizes gaming and streaming. I would like to manually configure each device or have a per-device bandwidth throttling feature and also see which apps are using that bandwidth as I've seen some Asus routers do this by looking at reviews. Other features include fast roaming, capacity-aware mode, intelligent wizards, port forwarding, UPnP and DHCP. Some of these features don't tell you what they actually do, especially in fast roaming mode and bandwidth-conscious mode. There's a brief description of what it is, but I don't know if I'm interfering with a specific speed. I could do a search and read a lot of stuff to find out, but why bother? One part I'm missing is the per-device IP binding, as I'm used to this for file sharing between network devices and prioritization. Finally, when planning maintenance, the timing of the restart is also a good feature. The only feature the app lacks is manually rebooting the device through the app instead of scheduling or shutting down the router. ************************************************** *************************************************** * *** ******************************** In general I am very satisfied with my Mesforce M3 Suite system. Previously I had 2 separate SSIDs for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz range. This system provides one SSID to use both areas. I no longer have blind spots in and out of the house we often go to, and I have way more coverage than I actually need. Of course I like to go over the top with everything as it gives me the satisfaction of covering it up. We have plans to expand the house and this will still cover the area required. Installation was very easy, but there were some issues with connecting the cable device directly. There was also a moment of frustration when some devices went offline for the first few hours, but I suspect this was because I changed the DHCP server IP when I added 30+ devices. The configurations are there and they're limited, but I'm sure firmware updates can easily fix that. If the company reads, add IP binding per device, bandwidth limit per device, view which apps/sites are using internet traffic per device in the network (currently you can see real-time traffic per device), expand QOS и добавьте перезагрузите маршрутизатор в приложение. These missing features aren't a deal breaker for me, but if you add that, choosing this mesh router system could be a deal breaker for other consumers as the overall design is beautiful, compact, stylish, good coverage, great features and more importantly is It works. **** ** ******************************************** ************************************************** ************************************************** ************************************************** ************************************************** ******************************** **** ******* ****** Advantages Compact, sleek black design (matches home decor and doesn't take up much space). Compact power adapter (ideal for a clean cable install on a surge protector) Simply plug points/satellites into an outlet Duration (4 hours, 8 hours) Parental controls can group multiple devices and schedule multiple time periods Wide coverage Maintenance schedule Cons No WiFi6/ax (not sure if this is a disadvantage as most modern devices don't have updated compatibility. Tol Ing systems require wiring and iPhones don't require as much data speed for streaming/browsing. I think it's only beneficial for transferring large amounts of data on a home network ) not for tri-band. The second 5 GHz band can be useful for multiple devices and separate devices. It is necessary to expand QOS. For each device there is no statistical presentation of internet traffic through each application/website. I will pray they do a future update on this soon.

Pros
  • Better coverage, full WiFi signal
Cons
  • No form required
