Review on πŸ“± SCOSCHE MEBSG MagicMount Elite: Magnetic Surface Mount for Smartphones & Metallic Items – Space Gray by Rob Kerr

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Insufficiently large mounting base.

I bought it thinking there were magnets on both sides so I just had to throw one of those fancy metal plates on the dash but unfortunately it's wrong (but it didn't help) . worries me too much). What I gave one star is the way the holder attaches to the dashboard. It's secured with very good and expensive 3M Automotive Tape (the stuff that keeps your car door panels in place) and I thought it would work fine, but after only three days it fell off my dash (luckily it didn't have a phone on). it). ). ). I suspect the problem is that the base you put on the dash is the same size as the end with the magnets, so it has to support the weight of itself AND the phone. I wiped the dash twice with pure alcohol to remove all the cleaners and protectants, but it still didn't matter. I ended up using a plastic mounting plate for a suction cup mount that I had from another (old) phone holder. and have taped it to my dashboard and so far it seems to be holding up better than just taped to the dashboard itself. I understand they were probably trying to give a minimalistic look, but the mounting base needs to be much, much larger and be able to support weight on a less than smooth surface.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Something is wrong
