Review on Pynsseu 24-Inch Heavy Duty Folding Shelf Brackets For Space-Saving Storage – 2 Pack by Phil Casey

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good value in a folding shelf bracket

I bought these to create a stow-away 32.5"W x 24"D workspace on the end of a rolling stand that I built for my model railroad.I'm very glad that I read other reviews, and I appreciate the folks who offered installation tips. I used 1.25" coarse sheet rock screws to secure the brackets to the 2x4 vertical supports on my rolling stand. As others have stated, you need a VERY long bit/screwdriver to install the top screw. Then I positioned the melamine top and marked the rear hole (closest to the hinge point), flipped the board, started the screws to create a pilot hole, flipped the board back over and installed those two screws (one in each bracket). Then I lowered the shelf and ensured that it would close all the way, and scribed pencil lines along each arm so I could ensure I had it in the right place when I installed the other two screws in each. Everything is working fine. I used the small screws that came with the brackets to secure the top . as others have noted, they are not great quality, but they will do the job in this case.As you can see from the second pic, the final installation is not perfectly level (about 1/4" or 5/16" in 24", which is less than 1°), but that is not a deal-breaker for me (especially at this price), and I'm glad that it is tilting back instead of down because I can easily install a lip on the back if needed to catch rolling parts. (Yes, the verticals are plumb.)I don't plan to load these up a ton, so all in all it feels like a good purchase, and we'll see how long they hold up.
