Review on Samsung LC27RG50FQNXZA 27-Inch Curved Monitor with 1920x1080P Resolution and 240Hz Refresh Rate by Mike Fisher

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good monitor, bad stand, weird price...

Review from a close technologist: For reference, this is compared to a 4 year old Asus VG278 27"/144Hz gaming monitor that I used as my primary monitor. Color depth is as good as it can be for a TN monitor The monitor has an easy-to-use built-in menu that allows you to quickly adjust settings, including color palette, sharpness and contrast, based on a few customizable pre-built profiles. The curvature makes the monitor feel slightly larger than a flat monitor, despite being quite sits below where the curvature can even help.It comes with a DisplayPort cable and also has HDMI ports for additional inputs.Cons:stand, frankly primitive. It's a flat tripod stand and the only adjustments you make is tilting the screen - I had to rest it on a small pile of textbooks and an old plastic dice box to keep it stable to keep l at the right height for my desk. Melody. This might be fine for those who can face the screen, but external support is required for any height adjustment. Compare that to the VG278, which features a rotating round base and built-in elevation and tilt adjustments. Additionally, it would require a very powerful machine to max out the monitor's 240Hz refresh rate, making this monitor best suited for enthusiasts building PCs in the $2,000-$2,500 range who likely have better options in terms of performance have on monitors. Overall 3/5: It's a good monitor in its own right, but the curve is a bit useless, the price is a bit high for what it offers and the stand is boring to say the least.
